Enfield Speciality Doors ensures Golden Thread compliance with new fire door label
All fire doors manufactured by Enfield Speciality Doors now feature a new door label to help customers comply with ‘Golden Thread’ legislation. Part of the Building Safety Act 2022, this is one of the most important changes to fire safety legislation in the past few years and mandatory for Higher Risk Buildings (but best practice for all). The Golden Thread is a digital chain of information documenting a building’s design, construction, and ongoing safety management. – including product details spanning design, testing, manufacturing, installation, inspection and maintenance.
“Every door we make includes a tamper-resistant door label with information on its specification and manufacture including IFC certification, leaf size, fire rating, left/right hung, glazing, an ID number, and a dedicated QR code,” explains James Saunders, Managing Director of Enfield Speciality Doors. “The QR code links to full Field of Application details, including our independently verified company certificates, and unique technical data for that door.”
In 3 simple steps you can view and download all the details required for the Golden Thread:
- Scan the QR code on the door label with a phone or tablet.
- Review the full Field of Application or individual sections (Frame Detail; Installation; Hardware; Intumescent) and the fire certifications.
- Download the relevant information.
James adds: “The label and QR code creates a chain of evidence documenting a fire door’s lifecycle for full traceability— linking design and manufacture to installation, maintenance, and finally removal/replacement. This helps clients, principal designers, contractors and accountable persons to create and maintain the Golden Thread.to ensure compliance and building safety.”
