Chairman of Enfield Speciality Doors, Nigel Sill, is a guest speaker at the launch event for Quiet Mark’s Acoustics Academy on 13th February.
Quiet Mark is the international approval award programme associated with the UK Noise Abatement Society, which promotes noise reduction in product design – and Enfield’s timber acoustic doors have been certified through the Quiet Mark scheme since 2014.
There’s increasing evidence and increasing awareness of noise as a mental and physical health issue, and it’s moving up the agenda for many in the built environment sector. The World Health Organisation says that noise is the second biggest environmental issue after air pollution. Meanwhile, a recent study printed in the German magazine Der Spiegel showed that exposure to an average noise level of 60dB increased coronary heart disease by 61% in men and 80% in women.
On Thursday 13th February, Quiet Mark will launch its new Acoustics Academy – an online portal which will equip and empower architects, builders and designers with a guide to expertly verified leading acoustic solutions for every building application area.
The launch event will take place at the Islington Design Centre, and will feature a TED-style masterclass. Nigel will give a brief talk on acoustic doors and some of Enfield’s projects.
